The Lexmark S 1650 using Lexmark S 1650 Toner Cartridge was part of Lexmark’s Optra series of laser printers. While this line of printers has since been discontinued, some retailers still sell them online as refurbished or used models. If you think that buying refurbished (or used) is for you, then you might save some money on a decent quality printer (make sure you are comfortable with buying refurbished first, however).

The Lexmark company has been in business ever since is split from IBM in 1991. Now, it is a highly respected company whose customer service and honesty earned them an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. Fortune magazine also gave them the honor of #5 as one of the most admired manufacturing companies of computer peripherals.

This printer is a black and white laser printer with a 16 page per minute capability, using Lexmark S 1650 Toner. That might not seem too large for some operations, but it will probably suit the low-volume requirements of many small businesses. If your business depends on high-volume printing to meet the expectations of clients, however, you might want to see if there are any faster printers in your price range.

Unlike its speed, it has a remarkable duty cycle. This Lexmark’s duty cycle is rated at sixty-five thousand pages per month, which is sizable compared to the needs of most small offices. It is also upgradeable to a three thousand-plus tray (although it comes with a three hundred page tray standard).

It has good printing quality for the needs of small business. The S 1650 will print at resolutions as high as 1200 DPI (dots per inch), which is higher than most offices will use for standard printing-even professional printing. It does offer the crisp resolution of 1200 DPI, however, when image quality is especially important. This is good when you are printing some pictures of business graphics like charts and graphs, and you need the output to be great. Reviewers have found that it prints clean, smooth lines and that it completely fills sections of charts and graphs with no gaps. It also is reported to be great and feeding paper so there will be little paper jams.

This printer can be found at some online retailers for fewer than three hundred dollars. In its day the printer went on sale for much more, but it is now an older model and is usually only available as a refurbished or used printer. This might be a great price for you if you don’t mind buying refurbished and you want a near professional-level laser printer designed for small business needs.

The S 1650 Toner Cartridge is still sold at more usual prices, and that now amounts to almost the cost of the printer in some cases. Toner can be expensive, but if you print a lot of documents, you might be able to save some money by looking for a high-capacity toner cartridge. The higher capacity cartridge will print up to seventeen thousand and five hundred pages, while the regular cartridge will print less than half of that–and the high-capacity toner is much less than twice as much as the standard version.

If you are looking for a bargain, the S 1650 with Lexmark S 1650 toner is still available online, if you look hard enough. If the specs above meet what you need, the Lexmark toner and printer are a great deal. Quality toner always makes the best printers better.

Another great piece of printing equipment is the Lexmark S 1620 with S 1620 Printer Toner Cartridge. Lexmark has done it again with this printer as the company is known for manufacturing high quality printers.

One of the things I noticed about the Lexmark S 1620 is that it’s a rather cost effective printer when compared to other printers that have similar features. Features alone, however, shouldn’t be your reason to buy the printer because what really needs to be looked at is print quality. After all, you don’t want a printer with tons of features but mediocre print quality.

The Lexmark S 1620 is a much cheaper printer than the others in its category. The features, along with the printer’s capabilities, are far better than other printers within its price range. However we always advise that you look more at a printer’s print quality than stuff like its features.

The good thing about the 1620 is that it accommodates many sheets of paper, enough so that running to load the tray to finish a job it eliminated. If, however, you still need more space, you can always include the optional Lexmark paper tray. I have always felt frustrated when it was my turn to print and the printer ran out of paper, but it’s my guess that this should keep even the busiest office paper full for the whole day.

Lexmark printers have always had excellent print quality especially when it came to printing text. You wont come across any cutting edge features with this printer within its price range, but then again this printer itself does not have any cutting edge features. I also went ahead and gave the printer a spin using Lexmark S 1620 Toner to check out how well it did when I wanted to print out various types of documents that included both text as well as photos and illustrations.

We started by testing the printer with a number of text pages later followed by text and graphics mixed and after that just graphics to see how well it performed. Text reproduction of this printer was first-rate except for a few fonts that didn’t appear very good. In our graphics tests, colored graphics looked muddy while grayscale graphics looked fine. I wasn’t impressed with the time that the printer took to print out a picture. Some things looked perfect while others weren’t very impressive which led me to believe that it was a printer best suited for text and some low resolution graphics.

We wanted to also take the printer for a spin at its max resolutions using S 1620 Printer Cartridge. Before we could print the printer took awhile to warm up, but once it did the results were impressive and some of the text actually looked much better in higher resolutions. The printer didn’t slow down significantly, just a few seconds of a difference, however at times it printer as fast as when it was set at normal resolution.

The Lexmark S 1620 cartridge seems to have a very generous capacity of 1200 pages when it comes to print at high resolution. Normally we estimate that in a conventional office environment the cartridge should last fifteen days in smaller or home offices it should be thirty days. It also depends upon what print quality you put the printer at. Lexmark has always manufactured spacious toner cartridges and this one is no different.
